Govinda Gabriel is an actor of German-Indian descent who started acting when he was only eight years old. He participated in several shortfilms while in school and decided to pursue acting as his career when he was 17. After graduating from the International School of Acting in Munich, he moved to Berlin where he started working on the play „Red“ by John Logan. „Red“, a duo-drama that was staged at the Theatre-Forum Kreuzberg was Govinda’s debut as co-director. He also starred in Pirandello’s play „The Giants from the Mount“ at the same theater. Following this, Govinda started filming the Prime Video series „Maxton Hall“ which achieved the largest ever first week global viewership for an international original on Prime Video. Govinda is portraying a queer high school student who struggles with his sexuality and feelings towards a fellow student.
Since (2023) he can regualry be seen on stage at Heimathafen Neukölln, where he takes on a lead role in Michael Ruf’s documantery play „Climate Monoluges“, which tells the stories of people affected by climate catastrophes.
In his free time, Govinda plays drums in the psychedelic rock trio „The Soap“. They perform frequently in different clubs in and around Berlin.
